This is CLOVER our youngest, a Holstein heifer (female) who is a real character and a lot of fun! She is very playful and outgoing.

She joined us last year from NJ's largest dairy farm, and because she is a freemartin (rendered sterile by her birth as a twin to a male calf) she would have not had the opportunity to live out her life. Cows can live for around 20 or 21 years, though most working cows on dairy farms are shipped to slaughter at 5 or 6 years old, once their milk production decreases. Our three freemartin girls will live out their natural lives here at Cross'd Paws Farm Sanctuary.

Cows eat both hay and grain and the cost for the cow grain for CLOVER is $33 per week, and $133 per month.
